21.5km for Yandina Five'0 for TIACS

G'day!

My name is Georgia – but most people call me George.

This year, I’ve decided it would be a brilliant idea (questionable judgment pending) to take on 21.5km at the Yandina Five ‘0 in June, raising much-needed funds for TIACS.

Now you might be wondering… why the bloody hell would anyone voluntarily do that?”
In the middle of winter.
Through the bush.

That little hill (331m above sea level).
And, if last year is anything to go by, straight through a conveniently placed creek-bed water feature.

Well, there are a plethora of reasons I could bore you with, but the short version is this: it’s about doing something for the people who can’t.

I had the absolute privilege of being a blue-collar worker for three-and-a-bit years with my family. I worked alongside my brothers (and hardworking little sister) and got to meet some of the most hard-working, no BS (and some even legendary) individuals you’ll ever meet.

If you’ve ever worked on site, you already know exactly what I mean. These are the people that make those long days bearable, the early morning check-ins and tool boxes tolerable and the ones always willing to give a hand when you need it most.

The reality is, mental health in blue-collar industries can be tough to talk about. That’s why organisations like TIACS matter so much. They make sure people know that no matter where you come from or where you’re at — you matter and you're heard.

So if you’re keen to support a cause as good as the people they help, I’d appreciate all the support I can get.

And let’s be honest — the beer afterwards will taste significantly better once the 21.5km is over🍻
