My Journey of 1 Million Push-Ups for Diabetes and Mental Health

Introduction:

In 2021, diabetes brought me to my knees. Physically and mentally exhausted, I weighed only 50 kgs, and life seemed like an uphill battle. It was the moment I struggled to lift myself during a push-up I realized I had to change something, a personal quest to conquer my illness evolved into a mission to raise awareness about diabetes and mental health, one push-up at a time.

2022: Overcoming Adversity with 150,000 Push-Ups:

In 2022, I embarked on a remarkable journey of perseverance and discipline, setting out to complete 100,000 push-ups in a year to combat muscle wastage caused by diabetes. At first, I could barely manage sets of 5, doubting whether a sick man like me could achieve such a monumental goal. However, I defied the odds and pushed through, completing an astonishing 150,000 push-ups. With each rep, I felt myself growing physically stronger and more determined to overcome not only the physical challenges but also the mental barriers I had carried with me throughout my life.

Aiming Higher: Empowering Myself and Others:

Having conquered the physical challenges, I now find myself at a pivotal moment, ready to break through the shackles of anxiety that have haunted me for years. Recognizing that my journey is far from over, I have set my sights on a seemingly audacious target: 1 million push-ups over six years. This remarkable feat isn't just about personal growth; it's about giving back and empowering others who suffer from the invisible cruelty of mental illness. I am determined to use my journey as a platform to raise awareness and support like-minded charities in their endeavours to help those trapped in the depths of mental health struggles.

2023: Beyond 250,000 Push-Ups: A Journey of Hope and Inspiration:

On this momentous day, the 23rd of July, I stand on the brink of achieving a tremendous milestone - 250,000 completed push-ups. With this achievement, I recognize that it is time to turn my focus outward and dedicate the next 750,000 push-ups to the cause I hold dear. My personal journey has taught me the importance of mental strength, resilience, and community support. Now, I am committed to signing up with a charity, leveraging my achievements to raise awareness, and helping others find hope and inspiration on their own journeys to recovery.

Conclusion: Inspiring Change and Advocating for Mental Health:

My journey from the depths of diabetes and mental illness to the heights of physical and mental strength has been nothing short of life-altering. Through relentless determination and support from friends like Dr. Shelly, I have achieved what once seemed impossible. I am determined to utilize my story to promote awareness, shatter stigmas, and assist charities in their noble efforts to combat mental health issues. As I continue to push through countless push-ups, I invite others to share in my journey, hoping that it will inspire them to overcome their own challenges and join hands in advocating for a world where mental health is given the importance it truly deserves. Together, we can make a difference, one push-up at a time.
